Q1. How does reflexology work? A1. I use my hands to apply gentle pressure to the feet. For each client the application of the therapy is unique. Sensitive, trained hands can detect tiny deposits and tension in the feet which block vital energy pathways, resulting in illness. By releasing these tiny obstructions toxins are eliminated and the circulation improved, restoring the free flow of energy and nutrients to the body's cells. This gentle therapy encourages the body to heal itself at its own pace, often counteracting a lifetime of misuse. Q2. Will it tickle or hurt? A2. Reflexology does not tickle. While the feet or hands are being worked, there may be some discomfort, but it is fleeting and is the result of illness or damage to a part of the body. Q3. How long does a session last? A3. A single session lasts about an hour. The first treatment will be longer, lasting about an hour and a half, since it will start with a consultation, covering the client's lifestyle, general health and medical history. Q4. How will I feel afterwards? A4. After the first treatment or two your body may respond in a very definite way - you may have a feeling of wellbeing and relaxation or you may feel lethargic, nauseous or tearful but this is transitory. It is, however, vital information as it tells me how you are responding to the treatment. Q5. Is reflexology safe / suitable for everyone? A5. Reflexology is generally beneficial for everyone, from young babies to people in their '90's. There are very few contra-indications to reflexology. Q6. Can children have reflexology? A7. Yes. They usually love it and respond well. Q8. Do you have to have a specific condition to have reflexology? A8. No. An increasing number of people are using this safe, natural therapy as a way of relieving tension. It brings the body into balance and so it can be effectively used as a preventative measure to ensure good health. |
