Q1. How old should my baby be?

A1. My Baby Massage classes are suitable for babies aged 6 weeks upwards.

Q2. What do we need to provide for for group classes?

A2. You, your baby, and a large towel. Changing facilities, massage oils and refreshments will be provided. Please wear something loose and comfortable as we will be working on the floor.

Q3. How will we learn?

A3. Each week I will build your confidence in massaging Baby by concentrating on a different topic and learning a massage routine for a different area of the body. There is plenty of interaction with baby and time for any questions that arise.  I massage alongside you, demonstrating on a doll, so that you can give Baby plenty of attention and work out what's best for the two of you.

Q4. What if my baby cries?

A4. It's okay for your baby to cry in the class.  We will acknowledge and welcome your Baby's communication; we are always happy to listen to what Baby wants to tell us.You can stop the massage at any time. Your Baby may be tired or hungry or have trapped wind, which may cause them to cry. They may not like a particular move or maybe they just need a cuddle.  You are free throughout the class to attend to your Baby's needs, whether it be to comfort, change or feed him or her.

Q5. My baby has special needs, can we join in?

A5. Of course, we will work together to adjust the massage to suit you and your baby's needs.

Q6. My baby has recently been vaccinated, can I massage baby?

A6. It is advisable to allow at least 2 days after baby has been vaccinated before massage.

Q7. Can both parents get involved?

A7. I encourage both parents to get involved in the classes.  It is a great way to strengthen bonds between parents and children who do not get to spend as much time together as they would like.

Q8. What if my baby urinates during the massage?

A8. I encourage you to undress your baby for the massage and provide a suitably warm environment.  It is very likely that your baby will urinate during the massage!  You will be asked to bring a towel with you and tissue is provided.  Some parents choose to keep an open nappy under their baby.

Q9. I've got twins, can I join a course?

A9. Of course you can, and you will be very welcome to bring a friend or partner if you wish.

Q10. What do we need for 'one to one' sessions?

A10. Ideally, enough space for your baby to lie on a changing mat or towel. The room should ideally be bright and warm.  We need to try and avoid drafts and loud noises which could detract from Baby's enjoyment of their massage! It's best if Baby is not too tired or hungry. Ideally feed Baby about 1 - 1.5 hours before the session.
