I provide both ‘group’ or ‘one to one’ baby massage courses in Swindon and the surrounding areas. I currently run weekly ‘group’ courses in Swindon, Wroughton, Watchfield, and Cirencester (Click to see details of next Baby Massage Course Dates ).All courses provide parents and carers with the skills to be able to carry out massage on their babies as part of their daily routine. Irrespective of whether or not parents and carers attend formal courses or one to one sessions, they will learn the same skills.
Wherever possible, I encourage young mums to join a group. The benefits are that they get to meet other young mums, make new friends, exchange ideas, help and support each other and above all have fun with each other and their babies.
Baby massage provides a wonderful, nurturing experience for both you and your new baby, offering a unique way for you to communicate with your little one through the use of touch and eye contact.
The Group Course
The course consists of six weekly sessions of around 60 – 90 minutes each, building up and covering (baby permitting!):
T he one to one courses is exactly the same as the group course, but is carried out over a shorter timescale, i.e. three weeks (less time is needed in one to one sessions as both you and I are able to focus on your baby exclusively)
Each week, there will be a chance for parents to discuss any issues they may be facing, and to support each other with ideas and feedback. Example topics may be ‘Colic’, ‘Crying’, ‘Cues’, ‘Sleep’ or ‘Parental Stress’.
Group Size
I keep to groups to a maximum of 10 parents and babies to enable everyone to feel comfortable and able to learn in a friendly environment
Oils
I use pure vegetable oil to massage the babies, with no scent or perfume. Oils such as grapeseed, sunflower, calendula or olive oil (all cold-pressed) are the best for your baby’s skin. We do not use Essential Oils or (Mineral) ‘Baby Oil’. I will provide the oil we will be using, which you get to keep during the course and for use at home once the classes end.
Please bring: A towel (we will be taking your baby’s nappy off to massage him/her!) and a spare nappy. Please also bring a small blanket, which will be used to keep your baby warm whilst teaching. As we are working on the floor, please wear loose, comfy clothes.
